Traditional Irish music with an American flair,
this project from Irish singer/songwriter
Brendan O'Loughlin paints a clear picture of the
Emerald Isle. His music is difficult to
categorize. From country to folk, to rock,
to pop, but it's definitely Irish. As a
teen, Brendan toured his native Ireland with
bands like Gerry and the Ohio, The Express Show
Band, Tommy Drennan's Band, The Ambassador
Seven, and the Parkway Orchestra. Raised
in the shadow of Shannon Airport, it was no
surprise that Brendan headed off to America in
1986. In recent years, Brendan has
appeared with Roger Whittaker and Lee Greenwood
and performed at the Monroe State Fair in
Michigan, the Detroit Irish Festival, and the
Phoenix Irish Feis.
As a teen back in Ireland, Brendan cut his teeth
as a musician during the heyday of the Irish
show band scene and it wasn't long before he
joined their ranks.
He
first played the pubs of Limerick and the
surrounding countrysideand
was soon attracting attention. Together
with guitarist, Billy Brosnan, and one of his
own brothers, Jack, they formed The Ambassador 7
Showband.
The rest is history as Brendan went on to
perform from Connemara and Salt Hill in
Galway to the world famous Glen Eagle Hotel and Bunratty Castle
with a number of stops along the way.
Featured musicians on Between Two Shores
include Brendan on lead vocals, bass and rhythm
guitars, Bob Henke on guitar and vocal
arrangements, Ron Rubowski on fiddle, mandolin,
and banjo, Jonathan Yudkin on guitars and
mandolin, Ron Livingston on piano and keyboards,
and Mike Barton on drums.
